FREE Tech Conference & Workshop

Tech Together 2023 is an annual, free to attend, all women run tech event presented by the UO Women in Computer Science Organization (WiCS) This event is comprised of a catered brunch, an interactive workshop working with industry standard 3D modeling and animation software, and a discussion panel of tech professionals and UO alum.

Workshop Overview

an exercise in portals

In this three-part workshop series, entitled “an exercise in portals”, previously hosted at Factory Media Art Centre, we will learn 3D design, modeling and animation to create 3D interactive worlds with Blender, an open-source 3D program. We will explore how we can design spaces that provide us care and slowness in the digital realm.

This workshop is completely beginner friendly.

Meet the Panelists

Associate Designer

Sasha Heye

I graduated from the University of Oregon in 2023 with a degree in Art & Technology and a minor in Computer Science. I was a part of WiCS and also worked as a graphic designer for the Financial Wellness Center. Since graduating, I completed a UX boot camp with UC Berkeley and currently work as an Associate Designer at an EdTech company called Motimatic.

Software Engineer

Bethany van meter

I graduated with a degree in Computer Science and a minor in Multimedia from the University of Oregon in 2020. At UO, I was a part of WiCS and worked within the computer science department as a grader and learning assistant for several years. While finishing up my last year of school, I started working as a Frontend Developer intern at SheerID. After graduating, I moved into a full time role there and currently work as a Software Engineer.

Sabrina Ayyoub

I graduated from the University of Oregon in 2021 with a B.S in Spatial Data Science and Technology with minors in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, and Leadership + Administrative Skills. During my time at UO, I was involved in WICS and the Geography club while working as a GIS Technician for the Risk Services Office and a Lab Assistant in the DREAM Lab! Following graduation, I moved to Southern California and currently work at ESRI as a Configuration Engineer!
